The first exhibition in the totally interactive world on the most dangerous and fascinating bio-diverse animals on the planet

The first exhibition in the totally interactive world on the most dangerous and fascinating bio-diverse animals on the planet

In the 2016 Butterfly Arc conceived a new project for the Esapolis museum, given the numerous requests for information on insects and other animals found in various houses, potentially parasites or dangerous for the human body, for pets and for homes. Dr. Enzo Moretto, Director of Esapolis and Scientific Coordinator of Butterfly Arc, verified the absence, even worldwide, of an exhibition that could give information in a simple and fun way, on the species of arthropods that you can meet at home or in the trips, and which can theoretically be harmful to us. This is where Parassitopolis was born, thanks to a loan obtained with the PORFESR2014-2020 call and to the contribution and commitment of all the staff of Butterfly Arc and authoritative experts from various institutions including the University of Padua, the Academy of Sciences of Moscow and many others.

A new four-dimensional cinema hall, some information spaces with high-definition video along the museum path, a laboratory room equipped with modern microscopy technologies with stereoscopes and biological microscopes connected to large monitors. But also educational activities with schools and the public, and a large room that exposes models, preparations and parasites even live, along with various touchscreens with which to discover who lurks in our body, or on animals, or in homes, to raise awareness prehistoric parasites that lived at the expense of flying dinosaurs and reptiles, or who shared the evolutionary history of man. All this will be Parassitopolis, the great exhibition designed to give information on insects and other animals found in various houses, potentially parasites or dangerous for the human body, for pets and for homes. Parassitopolis is an exhibition for everyone, even for the little ones, who can have fun with a large videogame on a horizontal touchscreen to learn how to distinguish the most dangerous species from the friendliest ones.

The new project at the Esapolis Museum is the interface between the institutions dealing with pests and the public: for this reason, a specific section of the website was created in which to find answers to post-questions and where to send any requests for help: entomologist answers. Esapolis thus becomes an interlocutor towards those companies that deal with pest control, in order to establish a fruitful collaboration for increasingly ecological operations and to train operators.
Among the topics discussed in the exhibition there will also be a section "Prohibited to the Minors" in which very special and impressive aspects will be developed, a little rough, while part of the exhibition will be dedicated to how the parasites control our mind. This exhibition is added to the many proposals of Esapolis that will be further enriched in 2018 with other novelties, placing this museum, living and interactive, among the first structures in the world of its kind.

"This exhibition - said Enoch Soranzo, president of the New Province of Padua - is added to those of Esapolis to provide a more complete picture on this mega world, in many ways still unknown and surprising. A museum that aims to inform adults and children, in a pleasant, interactive and fun way on organisms and parasites to be recognized, to limit damage and to defend ourselves in an ecological way. We have always invested in museum structures because we believe that they can be real places to live with proposals for educational, educational and cultural entertainment activities. Esapolis is an important project not only because it is a network and a system, but it becomes an interlocutor to those companies that deal with pest control, in order to establish a fruitful collaboration ".
