Volo Monarca

Title: Flying with the Monarch Butterfly

Author: Enzo Moretto Butterfly Arc series - 71 pages - Format 24x23

Many of the people who visit the historic Butterfly House in Montegrotto Terme and the many people who contact it to learn more about butterflies ask for generic publications on the world of butterflies to learn about their species, biology and ecology. This book, in apparent countertrend, goes into practically only one species: the monarch butterfly. Beyond the extraordinary phenomenon, represented by its migrations and aggregations, which makes it one of the naturalistic wonders of our planet, by reading this book, you will be able to know much of the biology, ecology and conservation of all butterflies. This is because the monarch is not only a planetary icon of butterflies, but is also the best example to address or integrate the knowledge of these wonderful insects.

baco seta

Title: The Silkworm. History, Culture, Traditions and Science.

Catalog of the Silk Collections of the Ex Regia Bacological Station of Padua.

Authors: Enzo Moretto, Silvia Cappellozza, Laura Salandin, Alessio Saviane.
Butterfly Arc 2010 Series - 108 pages - Format 21x26.5

At the end of the 15th century, when Leonardo da Vinci invented machines to twist silk threads and designed silk dresses for Beatrice d'Este, wife of Ludovico il Moro, Duke of Milan, and in Venice, trade flourished, the area implied by Milan, Venice and Mantua was what today we could call the golden triangle of silk. On the other hand, Ludovico il Moro was so called for his policy of relaunching agriculture through the cultivation of the moor or mulberry, to feed the silkworms and produce silk. The Experimental Bacological Station was founded in Padua in 1872 by decree of King Vittorio Emanuele II, on the proposal of the Minister of Agriculture, Industry and Commerce. The catalog offers a historical excursus on the silkworm and its biology, diseases and culture. It also describes the ancient collections of cocoons, fibers and instruments of the Experimental Bacological Station enriched by many images and news of servatic silk moths and precious sea silk byssus.

Authors: Marco Vuyet and Enzo Moretto. Butterfly Arc 2010 Series - 92 pages - Format 20.5x20.5

At the beginning of the 90s the Bosco delle Fate of Montegrotto Terme was built in the Province of Padua, near the historic House of Butterflies. Since then this place has told many legends and revives many of the myths and traditions, connecting them with nature, plants and even butterflies. All this is boldly illustrated in the book that traces the narratives of the Bosco delle Fate, through a story that tells of the discovery of a diary of an ancestor of one of the authors ... which in the end will lead you to learn more about this place, its characters and also how to find the 4 magic words that can lead you to the fairy kingdom.
